Willson urges garages to embrace Kitemark

Quentin Willson, one of Britain’s best-known motoring champions, is urging the motor trade to embrace the Kitemark for Garage Services Scheme and play an integral part in safeguarding the industry’s future. Willson is currently promoting the Kitemark for Garage Services Scheme to the UK public and calling on motorists to demand that their local garage joins the scheme.

He said: “The automotive aftermarket is an unsung hero within the automotive industry and has been let down by a minority of rogue traders. Over the years, the increasing number of ‘horror stories’ of consumers being ‘ripped-off’ has only served to damage the trade’s image further and therefore garages must take action or face severe consequences.”

“The majority of garages provide an excellent service to motorists but only as a unified industry can it change the consumer’s perception in vehicle service and repair standards. I believe the Kitemark for Garage Services provides the garage trade with a lifeline to banish its tarnished reputation and re-install confidence in the consumer.”

Willson went on to add that garage owners must look beyond their full order books and think seriously about their future contribution to the industry and its longevity.
