22.07.2009 SIMI calls for road tax rethink The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) is calling for a review of the road tax system ahead of December’s Budget. SIMI has suggested that the gap between the seven emissions bands should be closed as a step to increase sales and increase Government revenues. SIMI estimates that Government coffers will be swelled by just €500 million this year, compared with €1.5 billion in 2008. Back
