The Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) is working on a new initiative with FAS to recruit apprentices to the motor industry.

Speaking exclusively with www.autotrade.ie SIMI Chairman Eddie Murphy said that employment in the motor industry had stablised "and the bounce-back in sales is translating into a rehiring of staff, albeit a gradual one."

"Based on feedback from members that are committed to employing apprentices, we will shortly announce an initiative with FAS to recruit apprentices to the industry. This is a really positive signal."
