Apple to add car crash detection to products

Apple is next year set to add a car crash detection feature to its iPhone and Apple Watch devices, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The feature would alert emergency services automatically in the event of a vehicle crash, similar to the tech giant’s fall-detection technology for bike riders.

According to The Wall Street Journal report from November 1, the crash detection system will use motion sensors to measure data such as sudden increases in gravity and acceleration to detect any incidents, before auto-dialling 999 or 112.
