BASF opens its largest surface treatment site in China
BASF’s Coatings division has opened what is its largest surface treatment production site in Pinghu, China.
The 60,000 square metre site will increase capacity for the surface treatment arm of BASF – operating under the Chemetall brand – to meet local demands for high-performance surface treatment solutions.
Dubbed as a “smart factory”, the new Pinghu site will offer a comprehensive portfolio of applied surface treatment products and solutions to various market segments including automotive OEM and components, coil, general industry, cold forming, aerospace, aluminium finishing and glass.
Uta Holzenkamp, president of BASF’s Coatings division said: βIn July this year, we expanded our production capacity of automotive refinish coatings at our Jiangmen site in Guangdong Province. Today, we celebrate the opening of our new surface treatment site in Pinghu.
