Although Bilstein is perhaps best known for its multi award-winning damper and coilover solutions, the company also offers an extensive – and ever growing  – range of OEM replacements springs for many popular makes and models of car.

With so many new cars suffering from spring breakage these days, particularly as the roads begin to get salted in the colder months, accelerating deterioration and corrosion, Bilstein is highlighting the many benefits of its OEM-proven spring range over other aftermarket alternatives. All of the Bilstein B3 range is made in Germany, to the same exacting standards that the company demands of both its original equipment and motorsport lines.

As well as more simple spring applications, the company also has more innovative technical designs, such as Pigtail ends, Minibloc forms and central force design. High-quality chrome vanadium or chrome silicone steel is used in all designs for an extremely high level of break resistance. Each spring is also seated after forming process to prevent any heat losses and careful surface compression and class-leading coating processes are applied for a long and durable service life.

On ‘barrel’ or Minibloc designs, the best possible production tolerances ensure that the coils fit inside one another with no contact. Bilstein’s insistence on premium tapered wire offers optimum suspension characteristics with silent operation, even on uneven ground and under heavy loads.

Unusually for the aftermarket, Bilstein also offers side-load spring designs too, which offer compensation of lateral forces occurring at the MacPherson strut on the front axle through the curvature of the springs. This clever design allows for targeted relief of the piston rod within the shock absorber and is fast becoming the default Installation in ever more vehicles.
