Bodyshop to benefit from new regulations
Compliant bodyshops should see the benefits of new regulations that came into force on January 1, through increased competition for the provision of inspection services and through the provision of longer certification periods, the Enviromental Protection Agency (EPA) has advised.
In order to obtain a certificate under these Regulations, an operator must first arrange for an approved assessor , to review their operations and obtain a compliant report. Operators must then submit this report along with a completed application form and fee to their relevant Local Authority for assessment.
It is illegal for any uncertified operator to carry out an activity for which a certificate of compliance is required under these Regulations. Any such operators should arrange for an inspection immediately. Similarly, any paint suppliers supplying non-compliant paints are also committing an offence. The EPA in conjunction with the Local Authorities will be carrying out enforcement activities during 2013.
