Business as usual as QH Ireland gets a new owner
The CD Group has concluded an agreement with the leading European manufacturer of car parts, Klarius Group, to purchase its Quinton Hazell Ireland operation.
Established in 1963, the CD Group already operates in the Irish market as Component Distributors, Paint Distributors and Exhaust Centre. The addition of the QH Ireland business will operate as a stand-alone entity within the group of companies, distributing QH and Klarius branded products to the Irish market from its Dublin location. The acquisition of QH Ireland increases the CD Group’s commitment to employing staff in the automotive aftermarket and increases its employee numbers to over 160.
QH Ireland customers can continue to deal with the same people that they always have done at QH in Dublin and place orders through the normal channels including the QH Ireland online ordering portal at www.qhl.ie .
Paul Hannah, Klarius Group International Business Development Director put the deal into context: ‘The CD Group is far and away the leading autoparts distributor to the Irish market and the Klarius Group is a manufacturer and supplier of parts. We don’t want to be in competition with large distributors, they play a key role in the route to market for our products and this deal simplifies our business structure while establishing a much stronger channel for our products to reach the market in Ireland, whilst also re-enforcing our strong relationship with the CD Group.’
Chris Curry, QH Ireland General Manager says: ‘The QH range is a great portfolio of products and the Klarius emissions products are the leading solution in the UK and Irish market. I am excited that we are now part of the CD Group of companies and my conversations with the CD team leave me excited about their plans to increase the volume of the QH and Klarius products and making QH Ireland more important to our customers.’
Terry Knox, CD Group Director said: ‘This move may come as a surprise for many but essentially we will be leaving the QH business as a separate entity whilst offering all the support that Chris and his team need to continue to grow the business. The group have a great affinity with the Klarius and QH product and to have the opportunity to become proactive once more with the brands out of the QH Ireland business is something which we are looking forward to.”
