Dealerships adopting to Level 5 restrictions

Ireland has this week entered Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions, which has forced many businesses to close for an extended period for the second time this year.

These restrictions are set to run for six weeks, until December 1. They are not however, as strict as the first nationwide lockdown back in late March.

The government has deemed many more services as essential, including those in the motor industry.

While the likes of the NCT, motor factors, tyre centres, bodyshops and vehicle leasing and rental firms are permitted to operate throughout the Level 5 restrictions, so too are dealerships.

Although physical showrooms will be closed under the government restrictions, dealerships can remain open for business and continue to provide customers with sales and aftersales services over the coming weeks.

Retailers are however, still offering customers the opportunity to purchase their new vehicle in the comfort and safety of their own home.

Virtual showrooms provide customers with services such as car configuration, live chat, aftersales and financial services.

This means that customers can go through the entire process of buying a vehicle without leaving the house.

Virtual showrooms include complete trade in valuations, along with personalised proposals and quotes via email and finance approval.

In terms of the all-important test drive, many dealers in Ireland are also providing new levels of flexibility by offering unaccompanied test drives, which may be undertaken from the customer’s home.
