DFDS Logistics has begun taking deliveries of its latest single- and multi-temperature 13.6 metre trailers, some of which are fitted with tail-lifts. They are joining a fleet based at Belfast Harbour that includes a number of other multi-temperature 13.6 metre trailers all supplied by Gray & Adams (Ireland).
The manufacturer’s ability to supply highly specialised trailers designed to meet precise requirements enabled Gray & Adams to secure a ‘foot in the door’ with its high-profile customer two years ago.
DFDS’s first order was for a batch of trailers it has since been operating for a major independent food and drink retail group. These are fitted with the unique Gray & Adams Partition System, which employs individual movable panels that allow internal compartments with differing temperature regimes to be configured in a variety of ways for maximum flexibility. When only single-temperature operation is required, these panels can be folded away or removed completely.
Gray & Adams has also previously supplied DFDS with lifting floor twin-deck trailers, and more recently with 15.65m single-deckers. These are working out of the company’s Peterborough depot as part of a Department for Transport-backed trial of longer trailers which has not been extended to Northern Ireland.
Danish-owned DFDS has been providing refrigerated and ambient transport services for full and part loads between Ireland, and the UK and Europe, for more than 25 years.
