Don’t wait for your licence to expire – EPA
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is advising bodyshops not to wait until their AIC Certificate to expire before beginning the renewal process.
The EPA is advising that bodyshops must have their premises inspected in advance of the expiry of their existing certificate.
Typically a bodyshop should aim to have their inspection at least six to eight weeks before expiry of their current certificate. The certificate will always be back-dated to commence from the date of expiry of the most recent certificate.
Failure to hold a current certificate of compliance is a significant non-compliance which will result in a certification period below the maximum 3-year period.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is urging refinishers to get a copy of its “Best Practice Guidelines for Vehicle Refinishing “ document, which includes a lot of useful information on how to prepare for a bodyshop inspection under the Decopaints regulations.
The guide contains a checklist of the information and documents you should have available in advance of an inspection, and what you can expect during an inspection. This document is available on www.decopaints.ie.
