EPA meets with VBRS
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has met with officials from the Society of Irish Motor Industry’s (SIMI), bodyshop committee – the VBRS.
Discussions centred on the “alleged availability of non-compliant paints and the measures that could be taken to restrict the supply of paint to certified vehicle refinishers only.”
The EPA said it would “welcome restrictions on the sale of vehicle refinishing paints” but explained that “there are difficulties in finding a mechanism that is effective while also meeting European legislative requirements in relation to the free movement of goods.”
The EPA says it would welcome any proposal for acceptable measures to control paints sales / supply.
