FAAS Sustainability Day brings together automotive aftermarket leaders
The inaugural FAAS Sustainability Day took place at the Futuremotive Exhibition event in Bologna, Italy in mid-November.
The occasion brought together automotive aftermarket ecosystem leaders and innovators with the aim of establishing FAAS as the foremost sustainability initiative within the aftermarket sector.
FAAS wants to engage and unite all relevant stakeholders in the automotive aftermarket sector, leveraging the sector’s collective influence to foster a more sustainable aftermarket.
It aims to propel transformation within the automotive aftermarket supply chain by offering sustainable solutions and contributing to global initiatives such as the energy transition, low-carbon production, pollution reduction, and the circular economy.
It also wants to bridge knowledge gaps within the sector and equip companies with the necessary tools to actively participate in sustainability efforts.
FAAS is also aiming to address various crucial topics, such as tracking and reducing CO2 emissions, optimising packaging, promoting remanufacturing and recycling practices, and optimising logistics.
FAAS says it is at a pivotal stage of development, where actors in the aftermarket sector are joining forces to enhance collaboration, exchange best practices, and foster sustainable initiatives.
By being part of the FAAS, stakeholders have the opportunity to collectively work towards a robust and sustainable vision for the future of the aftermarket industry. Gillian Fanning, who attended the FAAS Sustainability Day on behalf of Serfac Limited and SIMI, commented: “Sustainability is of growing importance to us in the automotive aftermarket and we all need to be considering how we can reduce our carbon footprint, particularly in light of EU legislation.
“The FAAS forum was a very worthwhile event and provided a valuable opportunity to meet aftermarket colleagues from all over Europe and the USA and share key challenges specific to our sector. The panel discussions allowed us to hear and learn from innovative companies who have already developed and implemented successful sustainability initiatives in their organisations and provided some useful ideas that we can put into practice in our own businesses.”
