Ford builds most reliable vans according to Fleet News survey
Ford builds the most reliable vans according to a Fleet News survey of the 50 largest UK contract hire and leasing companies. For the second consecutive year, Ford is identified as the most reliable van manufacturer and Ford Transit as the most reliable van.
In this annual survey companies themselves rank the best performing vehicles for reliability based on actual breakdowns and warranty claims. It is the largest study of its kind in the UK with those responding to the survey representing a combined fleet size of 170,000 light commercial vehicles.
Phil Hollins, Ford UK fleet director said: “Ford has been at the top of the UK commercial vehicle market for over 47 years, and is very proud to retain these important honours. The company’s strong results from this comprehensive study are testament to the hard work of our design and engineering teams based at Dunton in the UK, which continue to deliver class-leading products of the highest quality.”
Stephen Briers, editor of Fleet News, said: “Van reliability is one of the most important considerations for fleet buyers, especially as companies always aim to minimise vehicle downtime and optimise efficiency. Ford’s commitment to ensuring the Transit range performs well in the key area of reliability can only help grow its position as the most popular manufacturer in the UK van market.”
Ford is part-way through a comprehensive transformation of its commercial vehicle line-up, which began with the introduction of the all-new Transit Custom in 2012, continued with the all-new Transit Connect this year, and will see the all-new Transit Courier and Transit follow in early 2014.
