Ford makes the case for genuine parts
Ford is advising mechanics and technicians to fit genuine Ford parts, emphasising when it comes to quality and fitting, nothing beats an original Ford genuine part because they are designed specifically for Ford vehicles.
Manufactured to strict specifications, they have undergone extensive laboratory and on-the-road testing and they are built to maximise the performance of Ford vehicles and provide the confidence the repair will be done right the first time, the manufacturer says.
Given that the average age of a second-hand car now in Ireland is eight years, some repairers feel that they should fit cheaper alternative parts to their customers’ cars in an attempt to keep the overall cost of the repair down.
However, the consequences of such actions can be major and can lead to the repair having to be carried out twice due to the use of inferior quality parts as an alternative to Genuine Ford Parts.
In 99% of all such cases, the IMT bears the cost of the rectification work. Should any issue arise with a Genuine Ford Part that was sourced from a main Ford Dealer, the customer is covered under Ford’s extensive pan-European warranty that comes with all Genuine Ford Part supplied to both trade and retail customers.
