Fully electric wheelchair accessible taxi created by Westmeath firm

Donal Murtagh Mobility Ltd. in Moate, Co. Westmeath has created what it says is Ireland’s first fully electric wheelchair accessible taxi.

Using a Nissan E-NV200 – a vehicle not yet commercially available in Ireland – the zero emission concept taxi has been in development for two years and offers full wheelchair accessibility with a lowered floor conversion.

The Nissan E-NV200 is a full 100 per cent electric plug-in vehicle with a 40kw battery and fast charge system perfectly suited for the Irish taxi market. It will offer a range of between 200-300km on a single charge and will come in five or seven-seater options, or four passengers plus wheelchair occupant.

The wheelchair accessible lowered floor is designed to be safe and easy to use for the driver and passenger with a telescopic ramp option to make entry easy. It also features an advanced wheelchair securing system meeting strict European safety standards.
