International Women’s Day: Ford salutes female technicians
As part of its activity for International Women’s Day (8th March), Ford Ireland is putting the spotlight on its growing team of female automotive technicians. Among them is Jade Howell from Drimnagh who works with Bright Ford in Dublin.
Howell, who is in her second year of training, loves the work: “From an early age I developed an interest in all things mechanical by working with my Grandad fixing bikes and as I got older I got interested in cars and here I am today working with Bright Ford, training for a really interesting career,” she said.

“I would encourage other women to consider it as a career option, the work of an automotive technician is really interesting and the technology is always changing.
“Even in the two years since I started, I have seen much change, not least the move towards electric vehicles – it is great to be working in such a dynamic area with such great prospects for career progression,” Howell added.
