More than 33,000 passenger cars sold in Ireland in 2020 were grey, making it by far the most popular car colour in the country last year with 37.48 per cent share of the Irish car market.
The second most popular colour in 2020 was black, with 15,795 units sold and a 17.88 per cent share of the market. White/ivory, blue and red/maroon make up the top five for last year.
These figures are according to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), who also report that despite being the favourite, grey cars decreased in sales by 23.97 per cent on 2019 (43,535). This is mainly due to the negative impact Covid-19 has had on new car sales.
