Join Our Boys – Appeal to the Bodyshop trade

Please Log-on to www.JoinOur.Boys.org

On the 9th of November 2012, Roscommon based Paula and Padraic Naughton learned that their three wonderful young boys (aged eight and twins who are four) had a fatal illness – Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and their lives and dreams were changed beyond our comprehension. Sadly these three lovely young boys may not live past their teens.

This terrible disease is caused by faults in the gene found on the X chromosome, and it is a fatal, neuromuscular disease that affects one in every 3,500 boys. But imagine having three boys in one family with this diagnosis.

Please check out the Join Our Boys website (www.JoinOurBoys.orgwww.JoinOurBoys.org) to learn more about the family and this story, which will melt the heart of the toughest of men – the saddest story of a family’s future that I’ve ever come across.

The Join Our Boys Trust was set up just three months ago, to raise €1.2 million to build what will in effect be a medical unit, dressed up as a house. As these boys deteriorate and become wheelchair bound, between the ages of 8 and 12, and the Trust plans to have this unit/house built and ready. At the time of writing, in the twelve weeks since the formation of the Trust, over €250,000 has been raised due to the generosity of thousands of people, but we have a long way to go.

JoinOurBoys (1)All monies raised go 100 per cent directly to this most worthy of causes – there is no one being paid in this charitable trust. To date, everything has been donated (the Volkswagen car from John Keane & Sons for the draw, a €5,000 SuperValu voucher, the office space where the charity is based) – a real example of Irish community-driven generosity.

Now we are launching an appeal to the tyre trade and the wider motor industry to help this family, which is experiencing the most devastating plight and barring a miracle, the pending deaths of each of their three young boys, unless a miracle cure is found. It is the worst possible situation that a family could have to live with, the most catastrophic I’ve have ever come across. For this reason, we have adopted the Join Our Boys Trust as our lead charity for the year ahead.

You can help in a number of ways:
– Make a personal or corporate donations (bank details below);
– Organise an event to raise money;
– Provide awareness for this cause – get a personality or sports person involved;
– Adopt the ‘Join Our Boys Trust’ as your charity for the year ahead;
– You can also log-on to www.JoinOurBoys.comwww.JoinOurBoys.com where you could buy a draw €10 ticket
on-Line today. You an also help by further sharing this with your friends or relations
(at home or abroad), so they can also check out the Join Our Boys website.

Many thanks to you for taking the time to learn more about this tragic story. As previous appeals to your good nature has taught me, and because of the regular expressions of kindness and generosity by the good people in the tyre trade and the wider auto trade, I know that if you can help, you will do so!
