Man dies in scrap yard tragedy
Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority are carrying out separate investigations into an accident at a dismantler’s yard in Cahermorris, Corrandulla, Co Galway on Wednesday, which resulted in the death of a 54-year old man.
Joe Fahy of Kilcurriff, Cummer lost his life when became trapped between two vehicles at the yard and sustained fatal injuries.
An ambulance was on the scene within minutes and paramedics treated the man on site.
Gardai also arrived at the yard, which is not far from Tuam, but the victim was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. His remains were removed to University College Hospital in Galway.
His remains will be repposing at St. Colman’s Room, adjoining St. Colman’s Church, Corofin, on Friday evening from 5pm with removal at 8pm to the Church.
Funeral Mass on Saturday in St. Colman’s Church, Corofin at 12 noon followed by burial in Cummer Cemetery.
