More than 43k passenger cars sold in Ireland year-to-date are grey, making it by far the most popular car colour in the country with a 37.21 per cent share of the Irish car market so far this year.
The second most popular colour is black, with 20,779 units sold year-to-date and a 17.89 per cent share of the market to date this year. White/ivory, blue and red/maroon make up the top five.
These figures are according to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), who also report that despite being the favourite, grey cars have decreased in sales by 9.03 per cent year-to-date (43,215).
Black, white/ivory and red/maroon have also all shown a decrease in sales year-to-date, but blue passenger cars have increased in sales by 2.09 per cent (16,528).
