Moyagh Murdock to be appointed new RSA CEO

News is breaking but is unconfirmed officially that the current Chief Operating Officer of Bus Eireann, Moyagh Murdock is to be appointed the new chief executive officer at the Road Safety Authority (RSA).

She has held her current position since May 2011. previous to that held the position of Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer in Bus Eireann since the summer of 2007.

Ms. Murdock has worked in the Transport and Heavy Machinery industry for 20 years, and prior to her current career in Bus Eireann, she held the position of Country Operations Manger for Johnson Controls (September 2006 – June 2007); Group Product Support Manager at McCormick Macnaughton Ireland, former national importer for Caterpillar in Ireland (June 1999 – September 2006); and having started her permanent working career as Line Maintenance Manager at Team Aer Lingus (June 1991 – June 1999).

Ms. Murdock was educated Abbey Grammer School, in Newry before attending Queen’s University Belfast, where she left in 1988 with a B.Eng. Hons, Mechanical Engineering.

She subsequently attended Dublin City University (2010 – 2012) was awarded an Executive MBA at DCU. She confirmed on the University website that she felt it would bring together all the skills and experience she has gained over the years and allow her to develop her career to its fullest potential. Ms Murdock joined the DCU MBA Society Committee in 2010 and is the current secretary.

Murdock holds a Certificate of Professional Competence in Transport Management from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (September 2012 to the present time).

Neil McDonnell, Freight Transport Association Ireland (FTAI) General Manager said of her pending appointment: “Ms Murdock’s technical qualifications will be most welcome in her new role at the RSA, particularly as the Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness (CVR) legislation comes into effect in the Republic of Ireland.”

Murdock is reported to be taking up her role in late this month (January), and replaces the highly regarded former CEO Noel Brett. Brett left in the late summer last year after eight years in the role. He was instrumental in guiding the RSA from its establishment in 2006 through to 2013. Mr John Caulfield, is currently acting Interim CEO, Road Safety Authority.
