NCT operator warns over ‘fraudulent’ test booking website
NCT operator Applus is warning motorists about a “fraudulent” test booking website, which claims to be an intermediary and charges €76 for an NCT appointment.
The British website, nctservices.org, resembles the official NCTS.ie website, and describes itself as “a broker service that helps you get expedited NCT tests”. It even has a working Irish-language version.
Those who pay the €76 also have to pay the standard €55 for the test itself later – meaning the total cost is over €130.
According to Independent.ie, Applus has reported the British website to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CPCC), Google and the Gardaí.
A statement on NCTS.ie reads: “NCTS is aware of fraudulent websites that are currently impersonating the official NCTS website.
“NCTS are asking customers not to confirm any booking or payment details on these websites and only use the official NCTS website.”
