New app launched to help manage Covid-19 testing

A pilot of a new app and digital system has been launched to make it easier for businesses and the public to manage testing for Covid-19.

‘Health Passport Ireland’ has been developed by Irish-based Roqu Group. The firm says its system can link testing to an app that can be used to show whether a person has had a recent negative result.

While the system will initially operate under HSE testing guidelines, Roqu says it has been “future-proofed” to work with all official Covid-19 test types, now and into the future.

The developer says that in some cases it can deliver results in as little as 15 minutes.

Robert Quirke, president and CEO of Roqu Group says the firm wants to ensure that Irish society and economy can easily access testing solutions that offer the highest levels of clinical validation, whilst utilising the latest mobile technologies.

He adds that the testing solutions are clinically validated.

One of the trial participants is Emerald Freight, whose CEO, Glen Warnock has welcomed the trial launch of Health Passport Ireland.

Warnock said: “We were proud to assist the Roqu Group and the HSE with deliveries of vital PPE during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, and we’re delighted to continue our partnership with Roqu by participating in the trial launch of Health Passport Ireland.

“For us, this new platform is a game-changer that will allow us to continuously test, monitor and control the health of our staff. This in turn will enable us to keep the supply chain flowing, which is the main challenge for all logistics companies worldwide today.”

Roqu Group says the trial partners have full access to the pilot stage at no cost.

Details of a launch date and pricing for businesses and individuals have yet to be announced.
