New dual-action sander from Power-Tec
Power-Tec has launched a new dual-action sander which it says is lighter, smoother and more well-balanced than the clunky, heavy old electric sanders of the past.
Featuring random orbital action, this sander is designed to accommodate 150mm (six-inch) hook-and-loop sanding discs, specifically those with dust extraction holes, making it an ideal choice for use with centralised dust extraction systems.
The sander boasts a durable composite housing with a soft rubber grip, which effectively minimises vibration during operation, ensuring enhanced operator-safety, comfort and control (vibration level: 4.79 m/s²). Additionally, it includes a rear-facing exhaust port, designed to integrate with dust extraction systems.
At the heart of this tool is a powerful 350W brushless motor, offering a nine-stage variable speed control ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 RPM. Advanced features include a soft-start function that prevents accidental gouging of the work surface during startup, together with a downforce overload indicator that alerts users to excessive pressure, helping to protect the motor and improve sanding consistency.
The temperature monitor automatically shuts down the unit if overheating is detected, safeguarding the motor and extending its lifespan.
The sander is supplied with a four-metre power cable, fitted with a 240V 13-amp BS plug, backing pad, wrench, and central vacuum adaptor. It is also CE and RoHS compliant for safety and environmental standards.
