New range of PowerPacks from Ring Automotive

A portable PowerPack is a device that will jumpstart cars with flat batteries, and it is also a remote stand-alone power-source providing power for all your in-car kit.

Ring-Power-Pack-copyWith cold weather affecting batteries and drivers relying more and more on electronic gadgets in their cars, it makes sense to carry a portable pack around in your boot.

Ring has redesigned its award winning range of PowerPacks, giving them a modern, unique and distinctive look. The new PowerPacks have the primary function of starting cars with flat batteries, but they can also charge and power everything from music players, tablets and smartphones to cool boxes via the high speed USB or 12V sockets.

There are five units in the range, split between three standard PowerPacks and two high capacity PowerPacks. This choice of units ensures customers select the correct unit for the job required.  The standard 17Ah units provide 650A of jumpstart power for vehicles up to 2.0L engine size.  For vehicles with larger engine capacities up to 3.5L, 4x4s, diesel engines, 12V Light Commercial vehicles and professional users doing lots of chargers, the high capacity units are the choice for them.

To ensure the units are the safest available, all come with reverse polarity protection and crocodile clips that are fully insulated.  Reverse polarity displays if connected incorrectly to the battery, so preventing harmful damage to your battery.  Fully insulated clips provide additional protection to the user handling the clips, thus reducing the chance of a shock.

Two units offer 230V household mains power through in-built inverters, to charge a wide range of mobile devices without the need for multiple adaptors.

Two of the standard PowerPacks come with the added feature of a built-in air compressor, ideal for inflating car tyres in an emergency or blowing up inflatables away from the car when you’re on holiday.

For convenience all the new PowerPacks except the entry level unit in the standard range come with a charging station.  This is probably the most important new edition to the range.  Powerpacks require regular charging to ensure the battery inside is able to perform at its optimum capability.

The most common fault with PowerPacks is the failure to re-charge.  The charging base should eliminate this problem as it gives owners a convenient dedicated charging point to help them get in the habit and best practice of always charging after use.
