PPG’s paint mixing system Moonwalk is celebrating its first anniversary.
Since the official launch in Madrid in June 2019, Moonwalk has been installed in more than 25 countries across the globe and several hundred customers have enjoyed using the award winning system during the last 12 months.
Commenting on this very fast and early adoption by the industry, Alban d’Epenoux, PPG Automotive Refinish CEMTA Business Director and Moonwalk Project Leader, said: “We are delighted to have reached this successful introduction and bringing some much value to our customers and partners particularly in this very challenging environment.”
Moonwalk saves labour time, reduces waste and transforms the mixing room into a cleaner and safer environment. Material consumption waste are minimised and bodyshops can easily benefit from the automation of the colour mixing process to achieve the highest productivity thanks to a perfect accuracy.
“The swift adoption of Moonwalk by our refinish customers and the accelerating demand for further installations have been immediately supported by the PPG technicians who have been easily trained to proceed with the installation and the training on Moonwalk” said Matteo Carraro, equipment product and business development manager. “We call our colleagues the MoonWalkers and I’m proud to say that we now have over 60 of them very active in the market place.”
But the Moonwalk’s final winners are really the bodyshops using this system every day, as Alban d’Epenoux explains: “We estimate that over 33,000 hours of productive labour has been already saved and reinvested to create additional value for the bodyshop managers and owners.
“That’s even more critical and remarkable in this period of Covid-19 crisis which has reinforced the focus on productivity and cost savings. Moonwalk is perfectly designed to help our partners to reach their objectives and go to the next level.”
With Moonwalk combined with its performing waterborne basecoat product platform, PPG offers one of the best refinish painting experiences to its customers.
