Peugeot supports Ride Out for Prems 2013
Peugeot Ireland once again supoprted Ride Out for Prems 2013, an event designed to raise much needed funds for the charity, Irish Premature Babies.
A group of over 30 motorcyclists, led by a convoy of new Peugeot 208s and a Peugeot Boxer van travelled around Ireland over a four day period in late April, delivering essential equipment to baby intensive care units across the country. Last year the Ride Out for Prems 2012 event saw in excess of €45,000 raised and the total this year was a fantastic €50,000.
The annual event took place from 25th to 28th April and much-needed equipment was presented at Cavan Hospital, Letterkenny Hospital, Sligo General Hospital, Castlebar Hospital, Galway Hospital, Limerick Hospital, Tralee General Hospital, Cork University Maternity Hospital and Waterford Regional Hospital. These units urgently needed incubators, heart monitors, ventilation and cpap equipment and apnea monitors. Ride Out for Prems 2013 presented a heart scan machine worth €20,000 to the Rotunda.
Emma Toner, Peugeot Marketing Manager said: “Irish Premature Babies is a fantastic charity that offers a huge support network to parents and premature babies. Peugeot is delighted to have been of assistance to the Ride Out for Prems 2013 event, offering the use of four Peugeot cars and a Boxer Van to the cause.”
Every year in Ireland over 4,500 babies are born prematurely. Many of these babies face an incredibly difficult start when they come into the world. They can spend days, weeks and months in hospital and suffer from numerous medical problems. Some of these babies will go on to lead healthy lives, some of these babies will have long term complications and sadly some of them are just too ill to survive. Irish Premature Babies CHY19532 are the only charity in Ireland that look after the families of premature babies and the only charity that helps to buy life-saving equipment for the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Units and Special Care Baby Units around the country.
