Philips Automotive appoints new sales director for UK & Ireland
Richard Armstrong is the man who has taken up responsibility for sales of Philips Automotive products in the UK and Ireland – taking over the role from Ed Savage who has moved into the friction sector of the industry.
Having previously worked with some of the most well known names in the Automotive industry, Richard brings more than thirty years’ UK aftermarket experience to the role. This experience gives him an extensive knowledge of the distribution channels and an enviable network of contacts.
Richard comes to the Philips brand having been sales director at Nordic Car Parts and his career before that includes spells as head of passenger car business development at Hella, sales development manager at First Line, key accounts manager at SKF and sales development management roles at Baldwin Filters, National Batteries and Valeo.
“I relish the challenge of selling high quality product at good profitability levels by utilising the features and benefits sales strategy to best effect,” he enthuses, “Philips quality is unparalleled in this respect and as I especially enjoy the challenge of developing a brand’s position in the aftermarket, I believe that the foundations are there for Philips to make further significant inroads in the UK and Ireland.”
Philips has dedicated itself to designing and manufacturing automotive lighting solutions to enhance safety for all road users and it is no exaggeration to say that the company has been responsible for almost every major development in automotive lighting during this time.
Over the last three decades, for example, Philips has been responsible for new technologies, such as High Performance Halogen bulbs, Blue headlamps, Xenon HID lighting, LED Automotive lighting and LED Daytime Running Lights.
Philips’ reach is such that one out of every two cars worldwide is equipped with a Philips bulb.
