RSA preparing new legislation on vehicle write-offs

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is preparing new legislation in relation to the categorization of vehicle write-offs, the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) has confirmed.

Speaking at the recent ABP Club Meeting & Expo in Croke Park, Dublin SIMI Director General Alan Nolan welcomed development and said the RSA will oversee a new process of independently verifying repaired vehicles before they are returned to the roads.

Last year SIMI introduced a new national standards programme ,Certified Steel Standards (CSS) for Bodyshops. The standard incorporates the industry agreed technical specification for the process of vehicle body repair. It outlines the processes and procedures directly related to the safe repair of accident damaged vehicles.
