Schaeffler to bring ‘Garage of Tomorrow’ to Automechanika

Schaeffler will be presenting its ‘Garage of Tomorrow’ at this year’s Automechanika Birmingham.

From June 4-6, visitors to the leading international trade fair at the NEC can do a deep-dive into the exciting world of vehicle repair.

Schaeffler will be focusing on digital displays that combine the everyday garage work of the future with virtual knowledge transfer using mixed and augmented reality.

Interactive and clear explanations of complex repair solutions will take Automechanika visitors to the Garage of Tomorrow.

Live at the stand, technical experts will demonstrate how the replacement of a dual-mass flywheel (DMF) and a timing chain can be possible in real time using interactive support. Here the everyday work at a garage and virtual knowledge transfer merge into one.

In addition, augmented reality will be used to present the company’s core competencies of transmission, engine and chassis. With the use of tablets, these technologies will be presented clearly and in a way that’s easy to understand.

Visitors will be able to get information at different levels of detail, depending on what they are interested in. When visitors hold their tablets in front of one of the three augmented reality displays (transmission, engine and chassis), virtual information about the intelligent repair solutions and special tools from Schaeffler will appear on the screen. Visitors can even request additional facts about the company’s portfolio, market coverage and the potential for the Automotive Aftermarket business.

The correct way to use the special tools will be explained simply and clearly with the help of virtual animation and interactive elements as well.
