Shot in the steering arm for remanufacturing specialists
Corteco sprang a major surprise at Automechanika in September, by unveiling a new piece of equipment designed for use by remanufacturing specialists in the power steering sector.
VcarSys is a new piece of equipment that will open the gate to the electric power steering remanufacturing market, a market that had looked likely to remain firmly in the hands of the OE manufacturers, says marketing manager Steve Jarnet: “Some of the early electric power systems units are now available in the aftermarket as core. VcarSys will give our customers the opportunity to take on a business they had not considered, or thought they might be able to do. Now they will be able to achieve it with technical and product support from Corteco.”
He points out the market for remanufactured hydraulic power steering system units is in transition, but the market for remanufactured electric power steering units is about to take off.
“We already supply a full range of kits to remanufacturers of hydraulic power steering units. VcarSys will give them the technology to access a new market before their existing market begins to fade. It gives us the opportunity to expand our parts supply business and extend it into new areas.”
Corteco says plans are already in place to support the VcarSys network in particular – and the electric power steering reman market in general – with new product ranges.
