Sikkens introduces time-saving Autoprep Pretreatment Wipes

AkzoNobel Sikkens has introduced another time-saving, performance enhancing product to its vehicle refinishes system –  Autoprep Pretreatment Wipes.

These handy, disposal wipes have been specially designed to offer excellent adhesion, as well as corrosion resistance, on bare metal substrates. AkzoNobel’s Automotive & Aerospace Coatings business (A&AC) is launching the new innovation as an integral element of the international campaign “The Painters”, which highlights the continual improvement that is so characteristic of the Sikkens system.

Autoprep Pretreatment Wipes can be applied directly on substrates such as steel, zinc-coated steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Using the wipes eliminates the need for mixing, stirring or spray gun cleaning and offers easy disposal once the wipe is dry. With Autoprep Pretreatment Wipes, there’s less mess, less preparation time, and higher productivity, and that translates to more profitable operations for bodyshop operators.

With Autoprep Pretreatment Wipes, Sikkens is also offering a healthier more sustainable alternative. The wipes are chromate free and low VOC. Low emissions means that they can be used right in the preparation area and that they don’t require any special disposal precautions or protocols.

The development of Autoprep Pretreatment Wipes exemplifies the kinds of innovations that are resulting from the partnership that AkzoNobel has forged with the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One Racing Team. “We worked together to come up with a time-saver for the McLaren paintshop, and we’ve heard nothing but praise since they started using the wipes,” says Remco Maassen van den Brink, EMEA Marketing Manager A&AC. “That makes sense, of course, since speed is of the essence in Formula 1, and McLaren shares our commitment to eco-friendly solutions. But what works for McLaren works for every vehicle repair professional, and we look forward to a similarly enthusiastic reception in the marketplace.”
