Glasurit’s Color Design Studio Europe, in Münster, Germany celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2018.
The centre for designing new colour concepts for the automotive industry opened its doors for the first time in 2008.
Besides the design of new automotive colours, the studio offers around 300 square meters of space for co-creation, where workshops with customers from the automotive industry take place on a regular basis.
Lastr summer for example, designers of the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer NIO visited the studio. “Each year, we develop several hundred colour concepts. Then, together with the customer, we refine some of these concepts and adapt them to the specific vehicle models. Since we work with nearly every car manufacturer, we currently have over 600 colours being produced in Europe, with new ones evolving all the time,” says Mark Gutjahr, head of Automotive Color Design Europe.
For the research on future trends and the creation of new colours the designers collaborate closely with their design colleagues in the regions of North America and Asia Pacific.
