Two new lifts set for MOT centres in the North

Two MOT test centres in Northern Ireland are set to receive a new lift each in the coming days.

A test centre in Belfast and in Newbuildings in Londonderry could receive a new lift as soon as next Wednesday.

The lifts had already been purchased from the same company that provided NI’s other 55 lifts, 48 of which were discovered to be cracked.

Most MOT tests for cars and light vehicles in Northern Ireland have been suspended with immediate effect.

Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said the two new lifts help prioritise the motorists affected by the crisis.
