Wrightbus under new ownership

Jeff Wright, now former Wrightbus director, has officially sold the Ballymena bus maker to hydrogen entrepreneur Jo Bamford after a deal in principle was struck last Friday.

The Wrightbus deal had been delayed after Mr Bamford and Mr Wright were at a crossroads over the sale of assets, as the factory and associated land were still controlled separately by Mr Wright.

Wrightbus went into administration last month, with 1,200 jobs said to be lost. However it is still unclear how many of those employees will remain at Wrightbus under new owner Jo Bamford, but with outstanding business thought to remain on the company’s books, it is understood workers will be needed in the near future.
