Shop Bodyshop Direct is one of Ireland’s leading suppliers of bodyshop equipment and consumables. From its base in Navan, Co. Meath the company, which employs a staff of 14, has carved out a significant business by going straight to the end user – the bodyshop -with a comprehensive range of quality bodyshop equipment and consumables. John Loughran reports.
 
Fourteen years ago, at a time of spiralling prices in the bodyshop sector, Shop Bodyshop Direct, realised that it could deliver great value for money to the bodyshop sector, by going direct to the end user. It was a compelling business proposition, which has seen the company build up a 1,000 strong customer database, with up to 400 bodyshops visited every week.
 
Owner, Jonathan Penny describes the business model: “Our strategy is simple. We supply direct to our customers, where we learn the market requirements first hand. With over 1,000 customers, and up to 400 bodyshop visits per week, we have achieved a very close alliance with the industry.”
 
He added: “Our portfolio is ever expanding, and we would certainly be unrivalled in having the largest and widest range of consumables and equipment under one roof.”
 
“90 per cent of the people employed in Shop Bodyshop Direct come from the industry- either from the workshop floor, or from distribution. We are a knowledge based supplier. We understand and we keep our customers informed of the latest technologies available on the market.”
