AkzoNobel Automotive and Aerospace Coatings (A&AC) has expanded its advanced Sikkens vehicle refinishes system with Sikkens Autoclear 2.0, a new clearcoat that takes advantage of a patented binder technology to deliver a perfect finish, outstanding drying performance, superior through hardening, and unprecedented flexibility on the shop floor.

Pushing its paint aerodynamics technology to the limit, Sikkens has teamed up with student engineers to create two world champion vehicles – the VeloX3 hi-speed bike and the Nuna7 solar car.

Last month it was a Sikkens partnership with Technical University Delft and a Sikkens-coated hi-speed bike, the VeloX3 that made headlines by setting a world record at the World Human Powered Speed Challenge race in Nevada.

With the VeloX3 recumbent bike, the Human Power Team, a group of students from the Delft Technical University and the Free University of Amsterdam, is planning to tear the world speed record of 133 km/h to shreds in the Nevada desert this autumn.
