Euro NCAP welcomes Allianz to Safer Trucks programme
Euro NCAP has welcomed insurance company Allianz as an associate member of its Safer Trucks programme.
Launched in 2024, the programme has assessed nearly 30 truck models and is working to broaden the adoption of advanced safety systems across the freight sector.
Around 90 per cent of those killed in crashes involving heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) are occupants of other vehicles or vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists.
With freight transport responsible for moving approximately 95 per cent of goods across the EU, the scale of exposure underlines the case for improved commercial vehicle safety standards.

Allianz, which operates in over 70 countries and serves millions of corporate and commercial vehicle clients, will contribute claims data and risk trend analysis to the programme.
Its Allianz Center for Technology will support efforts to link vehicle safety ratings to risk-based insurance solutions.
Matthew Avery, director of strategic development at Euro NCAP, said Allianz’s “expertise in risk and casualty analysis adds a valuable new dimension to our multi-disciplinary approach”.
“By integrating risk insight from Allianz with our independent testing data, we aim to accelerate safety innovation across the commercial vehicle sector,” he added.
