Mercedes-Benz concept refuse truck built partly from recycled materials
At this year’s IFAT in Munich, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and FAUN Umwelttechnik are showcasing a concept vehicle that demonstrates a holistic approach to greater sustainability in commercial vehicle manufacturing.
Based on the Mercedes-Benz eEconic, the vehicle combines proven battery-electric drive technology with a production approach consistently geared toward the circular economy.

The aim is to demonstrate how materials and industrial processes can be designed to conserve resources and close material cycles as much as possible.
As a refuse collection truck, the concept vehicle embodies this approach: it collects materials for recycling while being partly made from recycled materials itself.
The vehicle was developed in collaboration with 31 partners from industry and the recycling sector. The group intends to apply insights from the project toward transferring more sustainable material and production concepts into series production.
Further details are expected in the run-up to IFAT.
