Mirka DEROS RS and DEXOS receive Red Dot awards

Mirka is celebrating a double win at this year’s Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2025. The DEROS RS 600 sander and the DEXOS 1217 M AFC dust extractor each received an award for outstanding design in this international competition.

This double victory is not the first time Mirka has triumphed at the Red Dot Award. The company’s sanders have received accolades in the past, with the LEROS winning a prize in 2018, the AOS-B in 2017, and the DEROS in 2014.

Mirka CEO Stefan Sjöberg said: “Winning such a prestigious award as the Red Dot is always an honour. Winning it for two products in the same year is twice as special.

“Still, the greatest reward is knowing we are staying true to our user-centred approach to design. It’s one of the ways we uphold the trust our customers place in us.”

For Mirka, the DEXOS win is especially significant, as this new machine represents a bold step forward in the evolution of Mirka’s dust extraction range.

Veli-Pekka Västi, general manager of the power tools department at Mirka emphasises that DEXOS has made a strong first impression, and that we have only seen the beginning of the new dust extractor line’s potential and impact on the market.

“With the launch of the first product from the DEXOS platform, we have set a new standard for professional dust extractors,” he said. “It is by far the most user-friendly, intelligent, and effective product in its segment on the market. Additionally, it can become even smarter through future software updates.”

This year’s awards are yet another feather in the cap for Mirka’s product development, showcasing the company’s expertise and innovation. Both products are manufactured locally at Mirka’s production facilities in Jakobstad, Finland.
