Mirka joins the European Remanufacturing Council
Mirka has announced that it has joined the European Remanufacturing Council (ERC), a coalition of manufacturers that work to make remanufacturing a rational and economically viable part of product life cycles.
The ERC membership provides Mirka with a platform to collaborate with other leading companies, guiding the European industry towards increased remanufacturing and a lower climate footprint.

Mats Bystedt, business development manager at Mirka, notes the significance of the collaboration with ERC and the general trend towards remanufacturing.
“Mirka’s process knowledge in surface finishing is a key enabler of profitable and sustainable remanufacturing,” he said. “As in manufacturing, scalability is critical, yet significant work remains in automating surface-finishing processes for remanufacturing. Mirka aims to actively enable profitable, automated high-mix, low-volume remanufacturing.”
According to the European Remanufacturing Network – the EU-funded project that laid the foundation for ERC – remanufactured products are 20–40 per cent cheaper than newly manufactured ones, due to cost savings from the reuse of materials.
