Mirka Polaros RP 600 receives Red Dot Award for product design

The Mirka Polaros RP 600 was presented with a Product Design Award at the international Red Dot Awards 2026.

Introduced less than a year ago, the corded polisher has, according to Mirka, redefined what to expect from a modern polisher and managed to impress end users and Red Dot judges through its innovative design and features.

Simon Bäck, senior development engineer at Mirka, highlights the features that make the Polaros so popular.

“I think the success of the Polaros, and what we are most proud of, is the gearless design. It took a lot of time to get right, but once we did, the results speak for themselves: a more efficient use of the power that is directly targeted at the surface and a much quieter machine,” he said.

“Another important aspect of the polisher’s construction, which might not be immediately evident in daily use, is its modular design. This modularity, along with the local production and parts sourcing in Finland, simplifies maintenance and extends the service life.

“The low-profile design, without protruding side or loop handles, the ability to connect the tool to the myMirka app, and the patent-pending RPM control features are some of the things that make Polaros unique.

“These refinements improve usability and make it easier than ever to achieve superior finishing results. The low profile facilitates the polishing process by letting the user get closer to the polishing surface, enhancing stability and reducing vibrations.

“The unique Ramp Up and Ramp Down functions of the tool prevent splashing and surface damage by controlling the RPM during start-up and through pressure monitoring,” concluded Bäck.
