PPG claims Innovative Coating of the Year 2026 for e-coat primer

PPG’s Enviro-Prime Epic low-temperature cure electro-coat (e-coat) primer has been named ‘Innovative Coating of the Year’ at the 2026 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards, held recently in Shanghai.

PPG said the award recognises advancements in the coatings industry that drive progress in performance, sustainability and application efficiency.

The PPG Enviro-Prime Epic e-coat delivers corrosion protection, process efficiency and improved environmental performance for automotive and industrial applications.

Its lower curing temperatures help reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions while maintaining strong durability and finish quality.

It offers a broad operating window and flexibility across substrates and processes, allowing OEMs to improve productivity, reduce resource use and support more efficient, low-carbon manufacturing.

“The award recognises the performance, sustainability and energy efficiency of PPG Enviro-Prime Epic e-coat and its ability to help customers address evolving manufacturing needs while supporting environmental goals,” said Becky Liu, PPG regional strategic marketing manager, Specialty Products & Services (SPS), Automotive OEM Coatings. “Our goal is to deliver coatings that are not only high-performing, but also sustainably advantaged and future-ready.”
