SIMI / Independent Service Sector at WorldSkills Ireland 2025

WorldSkills Ireland, the country’s largest skills and apprenticeship event, opened its doors last week at the RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin, welcoming more than 30,000 students from over 300 schools nationwide.

The three-day event was a celebration of skills, apprenticeships, and career opportunities, inspiring the next generation of Ireland’s workforce.

This year’s event was supported by industry leaders across the automotive sector, including Category sponsor, SIMI (Society of the Irish Motoring Industry) and competition sponsors, Bus Éireann, Dublin Bus and Volkswagen Group Ireland.

On duty last week on the SIMI Independent Motor Sector stand were Anne Marie Murtagh (MF Autoservices), Seamus Ryan (Ryan Automotive), Eugene O’Shea (AutoWise), Darren Caldwell (TD Caldwell Accident Repair Centres), Nigel Pratt (Pratts Auto Bodyshop), Alan Lee (LKQ Euro Car Parts) and Cormac McLoughlin (LKQ Bodyshop Division (UK & ROI).

Designed to promote skills, apprenticeship careers and opportunities for young people, the event allows students, parents, teachers, and guidance counsellors to navigate the options available following secondary education.
