Update for Spies Hecker’s Phoenix colour software
Streamlined, clearer, simpler to use: the new version of Spies Hecker’s web-based Phoenix colour management software makes it even more straightforward for car refinishers to work with. The menu and display have been optimised, and a completely new option to the switch between working via touch screen or with a mouse.

“When it comes to supporting our refinishers and bodyshop owners, we continuously talk to them, so we’ve heard from them what’s on their mind,” says Dietmar Wegener, Spies Hecker Colour Management Specialist for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “And that is why we have introduced an update to our Phoenix formula search software; it will make our customers’ work even easier.”
With the new Phoenix upgrade, users can see at a glance whether they are working with the online version or with a local version that is automatically updated when it is connected to the Internet. The touch mode has also been improved. Colour PCs with touch screens or mobile devices, such as tablets or smartphones, can now be operated more simply thanks to larger symbols and input fields.
Customised menu navigation
The user interface can be customised to suit individual needs. Depending on whether the software is being used for refinish or management jobs, it only displays the pre-defined functions that the users really need for their tasks. The three basic settings are grouped in the “Settings” menu item.
Spies Hecker has also revised the way in which colours are selected using the ColorDialog or the ColorDialog DeltaScan spectrophotometer so that the formulas that offer the best match are displayed in an even clearer format.
The networked mixing room
Working with Phoenix has many advantages for bodyshops, not least of which is that the available formulas are always up-to-date when connected to the Internet, so the refinishers also see the latest mixing formulas. This is particularly important in light of the rapidly growing number of new effect paints and special colours. A further benefit is that mixed colours can be stored online in the Color Cloud and they can be accessed not only from other computers, but also via mobile devices such as tablets.
“We will continue to develop our offering – always closely aligned with the needs of our customers,” says Wegener. “With the new version of Phoenix, we are able to offer them a tailor-made solution for practical digital colour management – both for local and online users.”
