Warning about car batteries powering camping holidays

New research from Green Flag, the roadside assistance organisation in Britain reveals of the over 10 million british that plan to go camping this summer, millions of them are set to rely on their car batteries for power.

According to new research from Green Flag, the surge in camping holidays set to put pressure on the UK’s road network, with an estimated 8.4 million vehicles – including cars, campervans and caravans, travelling for an average of three hours to reach their campsites.

Sweltering temperatures and long distances are prompting concerns about vehicle reliability, especially as many travellers intend to use their cars as power sources while camping.

Green Flag research found that over half of campers (53%) plan to use their car batteries to charge electronic devices, while 31 per cent will power campsite lighting and 26 per cent intend to run appliances such as portable fridges and kettles.

This rising ‘charge anxiety’ is prompting safety reminders, as reliance on car batteries can lead to breakdowns in remote locations if not managed properly.
