The IBIS Ireland Symposium, which took place at the Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin on Tuesday, May 15 brought together all sides of the bodyshop industry for a high level networking opportunity and excellent conference content.<\/p>\n

Stand out moments for this writer included an excellent presentation from David O’Connor, Head of Aftersales, Kia Ireland who gave an insightful presentation entitled: \u201cA vehicle manufacturer’s perspective open your mind\u201d.<\/p>\n

David spoke at length about the new vehicle emissions standard World Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) that is coming down the tracks, and the implications it will have for the motor trade.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Penny, FixAuto, Vincent Reen, Reen’s Garage, John McGowan, PPG<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Frank Byrnes, Byrnes Autobody Repair and Roy DeLange, Fix Auto World, gave their unique takes on the \u201cBusiness Of Repair\u201d in a quick-fire Q&A with IBIS CEO, Jason Moseley in another enjoyable session\/<\/p>\n

Barry Sheehan. PhD researcher, University of Limerick, gave an informed presentation on Connected and Automated vehicles, and the cyber risks involved with these vehicles.<\/p>\n

After lunch Colin Hagen, MBE, Riverpark Training & Development (NI) Ltd., Michael Massey, Worldskills Gold Medallist, and Dave Reece, Ford Collision Repair Project Manager made contributions on the topic of \u201cBridging the Skills Gap.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cSalvage Situation\u201d was dealt with expertly by Just Kavanagh. Managing Director, VMS, and Darren Power, Motor Claims Expert, IAEA.<\/p>\n
