{"id":19299,"date":"2020-02-07T05:07:52","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T05:07:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/?p=19299"},"modified":"2020-02-07T14:08:31","modified_gmt":"2020-02-07T14:08:31","slug":"first-electric-van-prototypes-being-built-at-levc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/index.php\/first-electric-van-prototypes-being-built-at-levc\/19299","title":{"rendered":"First electric van prototypes being built at LEVC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first prototypes of the new van from London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) are now being built at the company\u2019s state-of-the-art factory in Ansty, Coventry, <!--more-->ahead of its debut at this year\u2019s CV show on April 28.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-50615\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"672\" \/><br \/>\nDue to the advanced manufacturing flexibility of the LEVC factory, it has been possible to build these verification prototypes on the same line, fully integrated with current TX production.<\/p>\n<p>The prototypes will be deployed as test vehicles and undergo a strict development and homologation programme including hot and cold climate testing, durability and crash testing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-50614\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>LEVC\u2019s electric van is constructed using the same lightweight aluminium architecture as its TX electric taxi &#8211; 30 per cent lighter than a conventional steel body, resistant to any form of rust and pound for pound can absorb twice the crash energy of mild steel.<\/p>\n<p>It also shares class-leading manoeuvrability with a city-friendly turning circle of just 10.1m and, most importantly for drivers and fleet operators, the LEVC electric van will offer class leading total cost of ownership.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-50613\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"596\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Joerg Hofmann, CEO of LEVC, commented to us: \u201cPrototype stage is an important milestone in our new electric van\u2019s development process as we stay on track towards full production in Q4. This new van satisfies the growing demand zero-emissions vehicles in the 1-tonne segment, currently dominated by diesel products, and combines this with extended mileage capability to totally eliminate any range-anxiety. It\u2019s an intelligent green mobility solution for any commercial vehicle operator.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-50612\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"753\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using the proven TX e-City range extender technology, LEVC\u2019s new van will set new standards in green logistics with 80 miles (130km) of emissions free driving and an extended electrically driven total range of over 370 miles (600km). Owing to its flexible range, it offers a \u2018distribution to door\u2019 \u2013 not just last mile \u2013 service, providing the critical link between out of town depots and city centres.
