Minor mistakes during installation can mean the difference between the component working or being a risk to the safety of the car.<\/p>\n
When installing new rear brake discs to Citro\u00ebn and Peugoet models that have an integrated magnetic seal built in, it\u2019s important to check the ABS sensor to ensure it\u2019s located properly. The ABS sensor gives an accurate measurement of wheel speed rotation and due to its location, it\u2019s common for rust and corrosion to\u00a0contaminate the area, which may impact the functionality of the sensor readings\u00a0when the disc is replaced.<\/p>\n
It\u00a0is therefore\u00a0vital for technicians to ensure\u00a0that\u00a0the location of the ABS sensor is correct, as if\u00a0corrosion has moved its\u00a0position, it may result in a lack of signal and cause the indicator to light up on the dashboard and not work, making it an MOT failure and a safety risk.<\/p>\n
If the ABS sensor\u00a0is\u00a0touching\u00a0the magnetic reader or\u00a0the gap is not aligning correctly, the sensor should be\u00a0carefully\u00a0removed and the\u00a0rust and corrosion from the ABS sensor seating location\u00a0thoroughly cleaned.<\/p>\n
Once this area has been cleaned, the ABS sensor and brake disc should be reinstalled, with a clear 1-2mm gap\u00a0visible between the two components.<\/p>\n
